Fried Haloumi could be served with marinated artichokes, olives, good quality crusty bread and Greek style dips. It is also brilliant served with cracked pepper, a squeeze of lemon and cherry tomatoes.
Vegetarians find Haloumi to be a good friend in the kitchen. Its texture and satisfying mouth feel makes it a perfect ingredient in curries, lasagne and vegetarian rissoles. You could also make a vegetarian kebab using sweet corn, red onion, zucchini and haloumi; lightly drizzle with olive oil and grill.
At cheese please headquarters, my favourite way is to use it as a starter for bbq’s, Greta way to keep the cook happy while he is cooking. It will also add some gusto to your steak or chops by serving a slice of grilled haloumi on top.
