Fresh Cheeses

Haloumi cheese with lemon wedgesCheese Please Haloumi is a very smooth and delicate cheese, suited for use as an entree or in vegetarian meals. Traditionally Haloumi has been used as an entrée in a Greek meal.

Fried Haloumi could be served with marinated artichokes, olives, good quality crusty bread and Greek style dips. It is also brilliant served with cracked pepper, a squeeze of lemon and cherry tomatoes.

Vegetarians find Haloumi to be a good friend in the kitchen. Its texture and satisfying mouth feel makes it a perfect ingredient in curries, lasagne and vegetarian rissoles. You could also make a vegetarian kebab using sweet corn, red onion, zucchini and haloumi; lightly drizzle with olive oil and grill.

At cheese please headquarters, my favourite way is to use it as a starter for bbq’s, Greta way to keep the cook happy while he is cooking. It will also add some gusto to your steak or chops by serving a slice of grilled haloumi on top.

Feta Cheese

Feta Plain or marinated (Chili, Pepper or Italian Herbs) – is a soft, lightly salted feta style cheese.

Creamy Feta & Marinated Feta

Feta either plain or marinated is a very versatile cheese. The value of Marinated feta is that it can be added to salads and pizzas to add extra zing. Add the feta to the meal and drizzle the oil can be used as a salad dressing base.

Creamy Feta is a perfect for crumbling into meals. I love it in a toasted sandwich with sun dried tomato and ham. But don’t stop there. Also try Creamy added to lasagne. For scrambled eggs, it adds salty flavour; you won’t need to salt the scrambled eggs. One lady swears by adding feta onto a bowl of steamed broad beans.
